Hi there,
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

My partner has been living in Canada with me on the IEC working Visa. She is a British citizen (I am a Canadian citizen) and her visa expires January 28, 2019. We know we have left it waaaay too late to apply for the sponsorship so any advice would really really help us!

Her Visa will obviously run out while we are still waiting on sponsorship, is she able to get a work permit before her Visa expires so she can continue working? Also, it has been a long time since we visited her family in Scot

As the other poster said, have you lived together for at least 12 continuous months and can demonstrate this?

If so, then you can apply for Inland Spousal sponsorship AND apply for an Open Work Permit at the same time. The OWP should take 2 - 3 months to come back. Sponsorship as you guessed will be more like 6 - 12 months.

Awesome, thank you!
Do you know if we're able to travel while waiting?
Thanks!

Define 'travel'? Anything more than a week or two away could be considered that you have abandoned your application, so be very careful with inland sponsorship!

We are in the midst of filling out the application and are finding it confusing when it is asking for family details even if they aren't coming to Canada and all family members must also have medical exams! Is this for real? That doesn't make sense to us!
