Hi.
Im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but admin, please move this if it is not it its appropriate spot.
I have been in Canada for nearly 4 years, and I finally got my residency earlier this year, which was fantastic, and a great releaf.
The relationship to my common-law partner has been rocky for the past year, and has really come to a boiling point withing the last few weeks, and we have decided that we will have to break our relationship up in order to be happy. That is of course sad, but probably for the better for both of us.
The problem I have is this, I am from Europe, and we live in northern Ontario, where I have no family, and no real close friends, oh, and we have a 3 year old daughter together. Therefor, I have to stay here, in order to be close to her. I have a university degree from back home, but around here there is no businesses that hire for what I do. So I have decided to go back to school, and do a trade, so that I can be able to support myself and my daughter, beyond my $13 an hour I am getting at the moment.
My question is this, or, my worry is, that I am now not going to be able to go back to school, because, in order to now live on my own, and pay everything by myself, I will have to find second job to be able to make ends meet, and I will not have the time to go to college for 2 years to improve my financial situation and secure a good future.
Will I be able to apply for OSAP? or does that count as a sort of welfare, and therefore my ex-partner will have that debt? can I apply for anything that would be able to ease my financial difficulty and get me through college? or must I wait until the three years are up on my sponsors agreement?
Sorry for the long post, but I am really at a loss at the moment, and I do not know who to ask for advice, or where to begin.
Any answers will be helpful.
Thank you.
