It has to be one year continuously to be common-law.

No, you don't qualify. First off you must live together 12 months straight, so the 1 month break in March 2013 will break that, and starting from April 2013 the count would begin at zero again.

And second it must be 12 full months. Even if you lived together 11 months and 25 days, you would not qualify. Common-law is fact based and not up for negotiation, so if you don't meet 12 continuous months, you are not common law.
