Common Law Partner- working, applying in different countries and processing time

Hi Everyone

My girlfriend moved to Australia to live with me in late 2012, and recently due to visa issues she had to leave

I need a bit more time in Aus to settle some business issues, she went to India to pursue an internship in international development.

This ends in 6 months time, I was planning on meeting her and going on a working holiday but I just saw that people who apply for the partner visa can be granted a work permit?

This changes things for us as thats what stopped us from applying in the first place.

I guess the questions I have are

1. Is it ok if she applies to support the application from India?
2. If her application is supported- is this the same as the 'in principal' approval that would allow me to get a work permit?
3. What is the rough timeframe for this?

I have plenty of money behind me in terms of supporting myself, friends and family know the plan that we have so there shouldn't be any issues and plenty of evidence.

You won't be granted a work permit since you will be applying outland (from outside of Canada). Open work permits are only available to those applying inland (from within Canada).

Yes - you can submit the outland application from outside of Canada.
