Hi all,
Myself and my girlfriend are going through the process rather late for applying for PR and was just hoping somebody could offer guidance to it.
We are planning on sending our Common law application in hopefully by next week but our Working holiday visa expires on January 15th and am wondering if it is too little time left to even bother.
Background -
-We are Irish, living together, in British Columbia since we arrived January 2018
-My girlfriend works in Admin for over a year (skilled job on NOC)
-I work insurance claims with only 5 months experience and no skilled job experience prior
-My girlfriend completed her CELPIP already and has her degrees currently being assessed and hope to have that completed by this week.
-We consulted with a lawyer for advice and was informed that Common law application is the best hope we have due to me not having the relevant experience/necessary points to apply solo.
-The reason we are running late applying as my girlfriend has switched jobs recently (Still Admin, same NOC Code) but the previous position wouldn't co-operate with us in regards to business licenses etc, needed for the application. We have that now in her current position.
I am wondering what the next stage should be for us as we would like to apply as soon as we have our degrees assessed. I have read through most forums here and everyone's experiences seem to vary so was hoping someone can push me in the right direction considering what stage we are currently at now, and what i could be doing in the meantime while we await the results from our degree evaluation to conclude.
Any and all advice would be appreciated
