My common law application started in process from 2008 June 23
The last document I submit to Buffalo was my Australia criminal check, because I have been there for over 10 months.
My lawyer told me there are no further documents required, since my medical and Canadian criminal check are done.
He suggested that I am probably under the background check. But, the background check period maybe 1-3 years.

I have sent several emails to Buffalo, the replies were all the same: family class application in Canada has the most priority, but we cannt tell u when ur application can be finalized.

Is there anything I can do about it, me and my girlfriend are kinda frustrated, my status is international student, right now my visa is about expired and I still have to pay triple tuition fee for my college education.

Anyone knows what is the longest common law application time line?
Regards. :( :(

1. Order CAIPS to verify what still remains to be done on your file:

http://immipedia.ca/Ordering_FOSS_and_CAIPS_notes

2. If it's just the background check (as the lawyer suggests) contact CSIS to verify they have the file:

http://immipedia.ca/CSIS

You can't do anything to make CSIS go faster, but you can (at least) make sure they have the file, and it's being processed (i.e. not lost in the system somewhere.)
