Hey guys, I would greatly appreciate if I could get an aswer on wheter I can go to my home country after my final semester finishes and apply from there and then come back while waiting for the PGWP decision.
Here's the backstory:
My final semester officially concludes on December 22nd.
I intend to travel to my home country on Dec 19th and return here on January 10th. I plan to apply for my PGWP from my home country and then return and look for work while waiting for the PGWP decision.
Will the fact that I applied for the PGWP from my home country cause any problems when I return to Canada? The reason why I ask this is that I know many people that have told me to not go back to my homecountry as I won't be able to re enter Canada if I did not apply for my PGWP from within Canada. I understand that there won't be any issues as I can enter with my study permit or as a visitor witout and electronic travel permission as I would have applied for my pgwp beforehand, but I just want to confrm.
Thanks!
Additional information:
•My study permit expires on March 30th 2023.
•Even though the official end date of my semester is December 22nd, my classes end on December 15th, so I'll be returning to my home country on December 19th. (And plane tickets become more expensive as the holiday season approaches.)
•Even though I will receive my letter of completion 4-6 weeks after my semmester ends, as per IRCC I can apply for my PGWP without my final transcripts/ letter of completion. "As a temporary facilitation measure, applicants who apply for a PGWP will be allowed to submit an application without their letter of completion or final transcript." https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/temporary-residence/study-permit/pgwpp.html
•As per IRCC one can re enter Canada while waiting for the PGWP decision:
"When you return to Canada:
- You may enter as a student if your study permit is still valid.
- If we’re still processing your post-graduation work permit, you may enter as a visitor, and you can work without a work permit until we make a decision on your application."https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1309 But it does not specify if whether that applies regardless of where they have applied for the PGWP
