Hi Folks,

I'm currently applying the PR and got invited under the PGP-Sponsorship, I'm the main applicant to sponsor my parents and currently the officer asked me to provide my spouse taxation years 2018-2022, During this period she's on EI and affected by the COVID 19. I'm sure that my income is sufficient but not sure regarding my spouse income. Anyone have been through this please advise.

Thank you.

As long as you had enough income during this period to cover yourself, your spouse, your parents, and any other dependents (i.e. your children or any minor siblings), your wife being on EI won't be an issue.

Assuming that she is the co-signer of your application, include her income subtracted by EI for 2018 - 2019.

For 2020 and 2021, you can include EI in her income. As long as the total income meets the requirement, it doesn't matter if she is on EI or not.

Also, family class sponsors will be able to count these benefits in their income calculations for the 2020 and 2021 tax years:
  • regular Employment Insurance benefits (rather than just special Employment Insurance benefits)

Thank you, Just wondering if I have 2 girls and I'm sponsoring my father and mother. Therefore did the IRCC count my family as 4?

No - it would be 6. You, your spouse, your 2 girls, your parents.

It's your current family size, you + your spouse + 2 girls = 4
plus parents being sponsored -> 2

So the total is 6 for family size.
