Closed work permit

Hello forum. I have closed work permit valid till May of 2026, i am with the company a bit over 2 years now(construction) but i would like to find a new job. I applied for my PR 10 days ago through common law with Canadian citizen. Is there any way that i can get an open work permit so i can change companies?

Not until you have AOR and then apply for open work permit. AOR can take 4-5 months and then OWP takes about 5 months.

Oh ok. So i just have to be patient for few more months then. If i get fired then can i get an open work permit?

No. You cannot apply for an open work permit if you get fired.
