I am a US citizen currently working in Canada under a closed work permit under the NAFTA Computer System Analyst profession. I was networking around and realized my skill set (Voice Engineering) is a need and there are quite a few opportunities available. However I would need an open permit to apply.
My question is, is there a way for me to get an open work permit without sponsorship? I was speaking to someone and they said I can apply as an individual but I wasn't sure what the details were and how to go about getting started.
