Clarification please

someone explain to me exactly what “we started processing your application for permanent residency on xxxx”

Does this mean the official processing has started? Background check, eligibility and security? Or does this just mean they got the application?

I need clarification .

It means that your local visa office has received the application and has begun processing it.

Background check and stuff will be depicted in gckey. It will says "we started processing your background check...". This will not be reflected in ecas.
