CLARIFICATION ON DUAL CITIZENSHIP NEEDED

Hi, I'm currently enrolled in a PhD program and hold a dual citizenship. Both passports are non-Canadian (Germany and Croatia). I only use my German one for traveling and visa issues so far. How does CIC treat the second one? Do I need to mention it to authorities or within Student Permit extension process?

Embassies of various nations always recommend people having dual citizenship to use only the dominant country passport. I guess it means the one which you have been traveling on.

Thank you for your reply. I would have a follow-up question regarding this:

It occurred to me that question No 6 within the online application process specifically asks if the applicant holds other nationalities. Since I am holding a valid passport of another country I have mentioned my other passport here this time. However, this is the first time authorities learned about it because I don't think that I have mentioned it when I extended my study permit for the first time (which was 4 years ago, and I don't really remember). I was wondering if this may cause delay or even problems with the renewal of my actual study permit.

I am just a bit over-reacting right now, because the second passport has never been used for travel, or visa issues anywhere. It has not even any entry stamps.

I don't have much knowledge regarding this. I'd suggest you to call up the embassy directly for a clear picture. They take up calls seriously and can give you valuable information.
