Hi guys,

My question is a little off the immigration topic. So basically, I had my medicals done today and suddenly I realized that the benefits from my company cover costs related to medical treatments such as x-ray, blood and urine tests etc.

So I was wondering if I could go ahead and claim these expenses. I hope it wouldn't affect my PR application?

P.S - These costs will be reimbursed to me by a group insurance company that deals with my company.

Please advise guys.

Most likely you cannot claim them. Typically only exams that are required for medical reasons (i.e. medical treatment) are covered. Exams that are required for other non-treatment reasons (like medicals for immigration) are not covered and must be paid for out of pocket.

hmm. Agree with your point.

Just wanted to confirm and make sure that I am not doing it illegally. Thanks scylla

Call the insurer and be honest about the purpose of the x-ray and tests (and ask if they are covered). As long as you're 100% honest about their purpose, you're not doing anything illegal by asking if they are covered.

It is possible. I claimed the expense with no problem even it is clearly stated for immigration purpose.

I hope getting refunded doesn't affect application in a negative way.
