I am almost ready to send in my application but have a query -
I have citizenship status for 2 countries and residency status in another so I'm trying to anticipate any future documentation that might be required (besides police clearances) down the track. Any ideas??
Anyone else have this hassle?

You should look at appendix a for the visa office that you are applying to get an idea of the documentations that you need.

Are you on the voyage of citizenship for how many countries? What if you are not satisfied with the citizenship of third country and residency of fifth country?

Although its non of my business, but am interested to know why would you switch?

Canada doesn't really care how many citizenships you have as long as you give a police clearance for any countries you have lived in more than 6 months since age 18. You may have to decide which nationality you are applying as because that will effect where your application gets processed.

You may lose your residency status if you move to Canada for too long.

boy, that's a lot and trying for another one... wish you luck buddy...

many ppl would have dual citizenship in the world and CIC knows about it. Still they don't ask for the detail... so, that means they don't care... in Schedule 1, you will have to enter country of citizenship. you may have to chose 1 country over there... but, you should mention in an attached sheet that you are also a citizen of another country and do provide the details.

just out of curiosity, does a person have 2 passports if he has dual citizenship

If a person is a dual citizen then he is eligible for two passport. I know someone with three.

No big deal. I have the same plus UK permanent residency.

But, I am ready to give up one for Canadian Citizenship. (LOL)

the good thing is that you don't have to give it up for Canadian citizenship. It might be helpful to have the others depending on visa requirements, etc.

Do you have 3 now? and UK PR? wow, thats a lot. Soon, you will have 3 and UK and CA PR.

Are you sure about this, that I do not have to give up anyone for Canadian Citizenship?

pretty sure. CA allows dual citizenship.

CA allows it but some other countries don't. Some countries will only give you dual under certain circumstances like having parents from two different countries. I knew a German woman in Canada who claimed that the German embassy always checks with Canada before renewing anybody's passport to find out if they got citizenship. I've heard that Germany since let people take another citizenship without losing the German one but you have to apply for it beforehand and prove hardship or something.

As for the UK residency, I assume you will lose it at some point if you leave for too long but if you have an EU citizenship, you can always get it back easily enough.
