Hello All,
I just have a general question for Canadian citizenship and if (at all) applies to my family. Here's some background:
My grandmother immigrated from Canada to the USA in 1959 at the age of 9. She has lived here her entire life but has never become an American citizen. She is still a Canadian citizen as she was born in Canada. My mother was born on American soil (US Air force base - Grandma married a military man), but to my knowledge has never applied for Canadian citizenship (Does this require an application?) and is an American citizen.
I was born prior to 2009, but am curious if myself or my relatives had a pathway to citizenship through my grandmothers' status. I know that if my mom was a Canadian citizen I would likely be able to claim citizenship(?), but I'm not sure if she is considered one by default or not because she was born in the US and has never lived in Canada not taken any steps to solidify Canadian citizenship.
Just curious, any input would be appreciated!
