Hi All,

Im a Canadian citizen and my wife got PR last week our 3-month-old baby is with her in India. her CoPR expires in February, so I want to bring everyone as soon as possible. so can I send someone (using a representative form) to the high commission of Canada in Delhi to submit a citizenship certificate application under urgent processing since I'm in Canada? thank You!

Basic process is to contact the consular department of high commission. Or the global consular help line (try both and compare notes).

You will do, basically, two things:
-submit application for certificate if Canadian citizenship
-apply for temporary passport on basis of (and with copy of) the application above.

They will issue temp passport on basis child is presumed to be a citizen by descent.

The precise recommended order may differ a bit from time to time and consular department. Eg they may want you to submit both together to high commission, or the first by mail.

thanks for response!

so can I send someone else to submit behalf of me? do I need use of representative form when I send someone else?asking because when I tried to book appointment it says online appointments is only for CANADIAN CITIZENS only

I believe the other parent could go, don't know though.

Believe the Canadian parent has to attend because you have to prove that you are able to pass down the citizenship. If needed a DNA test can be required. I would suggest verifying in advance whether your spouse who is a foreign national (not a PR yet) can go in your place.
