Hi everyone...

I'm a Canadian citizen who is soon going to sponsor my Indonesian wife to Canada. I am only going to sponsor her and nobody else. We have no children or dependants.

I was looking at IMM 3906 here (it's the sponsored person's checklist)

I am a bit doubtful about item 7, which says "Photocopy of citizenship certificate or immigrant visa for any family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada."

So....technically I am my wife's family, which means we DO need to include a photocopy of my Canadian citizenship certificate then?? Or...?

No. A photocopy of your Canadian Passport or Canadian Birth Certificate is enough.

Thanks! So under what conditions does the Canadian citizenship requirement in item 7 apply then?

If your wife have any family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, she need to submit photocopy of Citizenship Certificate or Immigrant Visa. It is required for verification of family. Even if you are attaching a copy of your citizenship certificate, it does not make any difference being you are the sponsor.
