once you get your citizenship card, can you travel back to Canada with your card or do you need Canadian passport?

If I'm not mistaken, every Canadian citizen (born or naturalized) needs passport for international trips.

There is no more Citizenship card. It is just a certificate. It is not a travel document. You can apply for Canadian passport on a expedited processing. You need to pay $110 extra and you need valid reason, proof of travel(You can say you are travelling by car), one guarantor and 4 references (regular processing needs 2 emergency processing needs 4 reference). If your travel is not within 10 business days I would suggest to apply through regular processing as they usually process within 2 weeks.
