Hi!

Just to pass the time and enjoy our forum and thread, below is an interesting article:

Malta's Parliament has voted to sell citizenship with practically no strings attached for 650,000 euros ($865,000) to help reduce the nation's deficits.

The plan, approved Wednesday, is expected to go into effect within a few weeks

just posted this for fun. Citizenship around the world type of thing.

It's not the 'special' factor. It would suit a lot of wealthy business people who would like to travel and move around for business (like Palestinians, Iranians...etc.). Check the Visa Requirements for Maltese citizens. Plus Malta is doing this for pure economical advantages. Check this link out: other independent islands in the continent of America are doing the same (Mind you, Canada long time ago, and maybe still, was the same):

Yeah this is good for wealthy businessmen or entrepreneur for short time.

In long run we never know, may be EU imposes restriction on this kind of activities or denies entry.

I know Canadians who came to Canada in the investment category (that's in the 70's or 80's) and after a short period, they got their Canadian citizenships. Fast forward almost 50 years later and Canada is still a well positioned country and its passport is well respected in almost all countries.

So I don't believe any restrictions will be put into place.
