Hi everyone I am after some advice me please. I am in the process of sending in citizenship applications for myself and my husband and my son and daughter we meet the 4 out of 6 years. Myself and my husband have filed our tax returns for the last 4 years. My son is 16 so is a minor. My question is my daughter has jus turned 19 she is a full time university student and has a part time job she has filed a. Tax return for the 2016 tax year before that she was a full time student at school is still okay to send in her application and won't get refused because before last year she did not have to fill in tax return. Thankyou for your helpin advance

Why cant you just get a new passport and then after apply?

Thankyou sidestep4u so just to confirm my 19 year old daughter should be ok to get her citizenship with her only filing 2016 tax return as she has been a full time student and still is. She had lived here for 4 years and I will be sending her application in with ours.

She only needs to file tax returns for you the years where she earned an income, so on your daughter's application (section J) she should list the previous years (i am assuming 2013-2016) and tick the box for "no" under required to file and no for the second column (taxes filed) because she didnt file and for 2016 yes and yes

Good luck!

Yes you can but youll have to send a letter along with your application explaining why your passport expire, even if you renew your passport you will still need to explain why there is a gap between the old one and new one (and any previous ones since you became a PR)
