Hello All,

I received my PR last year and made an initial entry.

Myself and my girlfriend are planning to get married this year. My girlfriend is Canadian.

The question is, after the wedding if me and my Canadian wife decide to live outside Canada for say 4 years; does it mean that I qualify for Canadian Citizenship ?

I read this clause somewhere on CIC website few years ago and now i am unable to find it.

Regards,
Rajjar

Living with a Canadian spouse outside Canada, you can count your days for the PR residency requirement but not for the citizenship requirement unless your wife is Canadian military or working for the Canadian government or provincial government.

You will therefore not lose your PR but you will not gain the right to apply for citizenship.
