Hi,

I'm a canadian citizen with a tfw bf and will be moving in together with him soon, i was wondering how can i be able to make him as my dependent in order for him to apply for a permanent residency? What do i need to do in order for me to qualify to make him as my dependent. Thank you ang i'm looking forward to hearing from you.

In order to sponsor him for PR, you must either be married or common law. Common law means you have lived together for a minimum of one full year. So if you're not planning on getting married, you're still a good year away from being able to sponsor him for PR.

as scylla says, you'd have to live together for a year to be considered common-law spouses by CIC, and you would have to be able to document this - if you plan to go this route, it helps to know in advance what CIC considers "proof" -

Note that requirements can and do change without notice, so before you apply, make sure you have up-to-date information and forms..
