Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I received mail today from CIC with a sponsorship approval letter only... it was not for me. This is unacceptable. I should not be receiving other people's confidential correspondence.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a common occurance with CIC?

Are you serious?!?!? That sucks for everyone involved...the people waiting for the approval letter and for you, who must have been sooooooo excited at first thinking it was for you.

Definitely let them know!

Lynn

Everything they do never surprises me at all. They mess up so much lately, approving people who shouldnt be and not approving people who should, emailing the wrong people sending mail to the wrong person??????

Ummmm...not exactly what happened to us. What did happen is when the CAIPS notes were sent we rec'd those for us and someone else...

And I did let them know and they very vaguely cared.

And this is suppose to be confidental? Its nice how they just help along the way with fraud.

In our case it was not fraud (iarblue?!) but a total breach of confidentiality and a threat to security. I was appalled to know that if I could have been sent our file that included someone else's caips notes that my husband's private information may also be floating out there in the ethers.

wow thats harsh. my husband said "is it ours?" LOL

Harsh? Reality often is. Check twice and then a third time.

just to clarify i meant it is harsh what happened to them, and that is totally unacceptable

That IS Unacceptable!!. As i keep saying, the process is unfair and it is NOT confdential!. I think you should call them, let them know and rant while you are on the phone!. ask to speak to a supervisor and say it is urgent. Heck! ask to speak to the highest person!. Most likely a big person doesnt know this is hapening!.

What i meant by fraud is people getting your information and using it to commit identity fraud. And here is immigration just giving it out lol

We didn't use the information we received to the detriment of the OP. The most that was suggested was that we take it to the news and reveal the inadequacies. But right now, it's about us and when that's done it can be about the rest.

Wow, that is unreal. Yes, people are only human and make mistakes however a mistake of this magnitude is unacceptable!!! I for one would be infuriated to know my confidental information was in the hands of some random person.

I agree. And if we knew how to contact the woman (whose info was in with my husband's) here in Canada, believe me we would have. At this point, we have no reason to believe she is in Canada. That doesn't make her any less entitled to honesty and integrity it just makes it difficult for us to inform her that there has been a breach.

I phoned the call centre and they said they were surprised, that it rarely happens and to please send it back to Vegreville. I wish there was more I could do but I am afraid of adversely affecting my own position with CIC since right now I am at their mercy in terms of my livelihood here in Canada. This whole situation, not just receiving someone else's mail but rather the entire process is very disempowering.
