CIC online payment receipt says not to send it to CIC? How come??!

Hi everyone...

1. I've just made an online payment for our sponsorship application. It was CAD 1040.

This is really weird...!! I looked at the receipt, and at the bottom of the receipt it says "If you have chosen to do your payment through your Online Application, you do NOT need to send a copy of the receipt to the CIC".

But that's in contradiction with what's written on the sponsor's checklist! Item 4 says "or if you are paying using the internet, copy 2 properly completed of the receipt you print from our website."

So what's with the contradiction...? (Lol...I'm definitely still going to send them the receipt no matter what...)

2. The receipt asks for a ClientID...but I don't have one.....is it fine to just leave it blank then?

If you were completing an online application, the online payment service allows you to pay the fees after submitting your application.

In that case you do not need to send a receipt of payment.

Online payment doesn't even have a "Copy 2." That's the paper receipt for the bank payments only.

It used to be people printed out the copy of the internet receipt, but it sounds like CIC has upgraded their ability to sort out their own stuff!
