IF I provide my email in my forms, will the cic only contact me through email or will they still send out any correspondence by snail mail?

That's the idea that if you provide an email address CIC will send the sponsorship approval via email. Though some people reported that they received snail mails even though they provided email addresses.

Note: In my case we provided email addresses for sponsor and applicant, and received all correspondences via email.

I think it would also depend on the distance...that is, if you live far away from Canada, it makes more sense to e-mail...and thus save the Canadian government a bit of money on postage.

We put my email and my sponsor's email on the forms. We got the sponsorship approval via snail mail and everything else via email.

Hypothetically speaking and if CIC does what it says. Obviously lately CIC is in chaos... and not doing anything it is supposed to do.

Chaos...damn, man...you need to be a little more positive...it's no chaos...just a lot of work to get done...it's not like they're running around with their heads cut off...that would be chaos...or a fire destroying all our applications...

I have never seen a responsible institution that does what CIC did:
For 3 weeks they were working on Jan 25
Then they are working on Jan 18
Then working on Jan 17
What do you call that?
Check Jan 2012 thread. Those who say it is usual this time of the year it is not a quick check of Jan 2011 shows it took 1month for approvals and they mostly received AOR.
I have been very positive but for the last month I have seen CIC performance

We provided our emails, but the VO sends us all the correspondence by regular mail. Except for one time when the mail was returned without reaching us, the VO called to advise that they will resend the mail, but instead we told the VO to just email us.

not really....no matter how much we try to guess and assume we can never be successfull cuz really they r not consistent at all....yes logically they should send by email if provided especially if it's outside Canada but some officers do use email some still use snail mail....someone from Jan thread who is living in Asia (i think not far from u) received the approval by mail although an email was provided ::)...

so, definately write ur email but that does not 100% guarantee that they will use it
