My wife and I were married in a Mumbai church under the Indian Christian Marriage(ICM) Act in 2018, for which we have our marriage certificate from the church where we got married. However, off late (January 2020), the process one followed to collect proof of registration of the Christian marriage has broken down as the Government hasn't filled in the position of the Christian marriage registrars at the Mantralaya who have the authority to put a final stamp on the Church certificate.

The option available now is to register our Indian Christian marriage under another act (the Special Marriage Act- Form16, which allows for this), which will take at least 1.5 months.

Question:
Can I go ahead and submit our EOI as a married couple for Express Entry?
The marriage date will remain the same, however the Registration date will be as of 2021, ie. after submission of EOI profile.
What are my options?

PN: I cannot approach the local ward office (BMC) for Marriage Registration as the process is not applicable to Christians, Parsis and Jews. I have already checked/asked.

If the date of your wedding will be from 2018 in the marriage registration, then you can proceed with the EOI as married couple.
