Chinese Police Certificate - Requested! But, I have no documentation

Hi to anyone who may be able to help,

I am applying for a Canadian work visa and I am so close (fingers crossed) to completing everything but I am being asked to provide a Chinese Police Certificate from when I worked in Loudi, Hunan in 2013/14. I have since moved and either I cannot find the documentation to begin the process or I never had such documentation when I left. In addition, any contacts I had when I worked for the University have not responded and the company I worked for is longer in business. The latest update after I sent an appeal is:

Police Certificate: IEC program officials are satisfied that you have initiated the process to obtain a Police Certificate from China. Please submit your documentation once it is available and complete. Immigration officials will be unable to finalize your IEC permit until the Police Certificate has been reviewed. Should additional time be required to submit this document, please provide an explanation letter indicating this need through the IRCC portal provided.

Stuck as to what else to do or how to rephrase my original appeal to emphasise that I simply cannot obtain this.

Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve, as a fellow Chinese I can tell you the only way to obtain a police certificate is to apply by yourself in person at a local police station where you worked . but you can also contact your local Chinese embassy or consulate whichever apply in your case and they will try and help you .

Hmm, thanks for your input. I tried to call/email the Chinese Embassy. They did not want to help. They have not replied or politely told me to go elsewhere. Even if I had a contact in Loudi or could go back, I believe I would still need my documentation Visa/Citizen Card (or similar) from my time there...

then you will have to go back to China and get one from the local police station where you stayed .
