Dear All,
I understand that for parents to receive child benefits, some conditions apply, I would like to summarize my understanding of those, please correct me if I am wrong or confirm. Thanks.
- Child has to be physically present in Canada, province of concern;
- Child benefit will be function of the parent income (after tax return is completed);
- Child benefit can be received as back payments (can you please state how far in the past can that go?)
- Child benefit is received approx. 3 months after application is submitted.
Additionally, is there a minimum period of physical stay in the same province per year required for the child, for example: 6 month / year?
Does this period apply to parent too?
For example if the child stayed (with their parents) only 4 month in a given year, would the parents be still eligible / receive the child benefits for there 4 months?
Thanks in advance.
