My wife is a Canadian citizen, I'm a US Citizen - we're currently living in the United States and planning on moving to Ontario.

Here's our issue: what constitutes proof that we'll live in Canada when I become a permanent resident? We'll both want to keep our American jobs until such a time as we emigrate to Ontario, and therefore she doesn't have a job or housing waiting on the other side...we have to arrive in Ontario to find the jobs! Would a notarized affidavit declaring basically that we intend to move upon receipt of permanent residence be enough?

Thanks!

We have the same problem only my husband will be retiring and not looking for a job. We will be staying with our daughter at first but other than that we wont have have much proof that we will return

Any thoughts

It's not as simple as that though. You have to apply and wait for your application to be processed. Where you wife is a Canadian citizen, she can sponsor you as a spouse.
Here's more information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp(to sponsor family members who live abroad) and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp (to sponsor family members who live with you inside Canada)

Yes, I understand the immigration process. Was just wondering what could be used as supporting evidence that I will return to Canada when my husband receives his PR.

Thanks

Employment, mortgage, car lease, etc in Canada could be supporting evidence
