My sponsorship application for my wife was submitted on April 18th, and at the time the waiting period was 90 days. So I hoped to have some sort of communication from CIC by today, July 18th. But so far, nothing.

Thanks to our lawyer, we made a mistake by not sending my wife's medical examination documents with the application; we thought that we were supposed to send them afterwards. Helpful people on this forum suggested that I should not try to get the medical exam in to them yet, but wait till they replied to me. But at this point I'm wondering what's up.

Is my case normal? Am I mistaken in thinking that I can't even check the status of my wife's immigration application online without them emailing or mailing me with a file number or something like this first? And does it really take this long even to get to that stage? I paid for the application online, and so what I have is a number on my electronically-generated "official receipt," located just above the barcode. At one point I thought that using this would give me access to her status, but I guess not until the sponsor assessment is over?

I'm a tad worried -- how do I even know that they didn't misplace it in the first place and aren't even doing the assessment? Is there no way to confirm that they've at least received it? Ideas, anyone?

do not worry.....as of right now they are working on files from April 11th.....yes as well as late May....but you should hear something within the next two weeks....hang in their.....more than likely they will send you an AOR and then you will have a file number and then you can submit your medicals quoting the file number....

Just to confirm what KJG has said, the processing time update for today is 91 days and working on applications received April 17. Your application is 93 days old, so you should be hearing from them very shortly!

Once you receive Step 1 Approval, you'll get a UCI number which you use to log onto ECAS and access the sponsors file. You can also use the File/Application number to log onto ECAS and access the applicants file (info on Step 2 processing). It's normal for it to take a few days for these numbers to work on ECAS.

Good luck to you. I hope you hear something this week! ;D
