Hi everyone,

I am trying to find a post where I can get some details for LMIA procedure. My employer said he is willing to look into it but needs to know what will be required from his end, before he can say yes/no. I was hired on a 1 year contract in Oct 2015 for NOC A job category. Now my employer has offered me a full time permanent job. I am not sure what will be required from his end in order to file LMIA for me. I do have a valid work permit until 2018.

My employer has the record of all the resumes/applications from all the candidates who applied when they initially hired me in oct 2015. They have rated them and shortlisted me and few others before They decided to hire me. Can they show the same documents to support LMIA or they have to start the hiring process again? I cannot seem to find the answer of this anywhere. Please help, any help will be highly appreciated.

What other documents are required?

What other documents are required?

Employers need to
- provide a job offer supported by an Labour Market Impact Assessment, and
- get a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), unless
- the candidate is already working temporarily in Canada for an employer who supported their work permit application with an LMIA, and
- that same the employer now wishes to extend a permanent job offer to this candidate. If the position or person was previously exempt from an LMIA, then a new LMIA will be required under Express Entry. When you get your LMIA, it will have an associated number that you will need to give to your Express Entry candidate.
- tell their candidate to create an Express Entry profile or update their existing one in MyCIC with the
- Employer name and address,
- Start date,
- LMIA number, and
- NOC Code related to the job
