Check Application Status with CIC vs online application status?

I would like to ask if any of you had the experience to check the application status with CIC.
Would the answer from CIC agent be different from what we get by using the "application status" function on the CIC website?

sometimes the agents on the phone can see more details, like if the file is still at sydney vs at the local office, etc...
