Changing Status from a (open) work-permit to a (legal individual) work permit.

Dear You guys,
I am writing to ask for your help. Actually, my husband is doing a PhD program at Toronto, and I have had a (open) work-permit under his student status. Last month I had a full-time job. I am wondering if I can change my status from a (open) work-permit to my own work permit. Also, I like to know if that change will be beneficial for me in some aspects like child subsidy program or housing support. I would appreciate to have your wisdom and advice from you. Blessing

If you want to turn the work permit into a Close Work Permit - your employer will need to obtain a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) and then you will have to apply for a new work permit. More information on LMOs here:
