Hello

I sponsored my husband in Application for Permanent Residence From Within Canada – Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class

By the end of the month I will pass the application package to CPC-M but I'm planning to change my last name using my husband surname in my health card, drivers license, SIN, CRA, banks, PR card, passport.

Question is:

1. Can i change my last name while sponsoring my husband while on process and inform the CIC about my changing name or should I wait until the processing done before changing my last name?
or
2. If I will not inform CIC about my changing last name, it will affect the processing or not? ( since most of my documents like C Printout, PR card and passport is on my last name)

Any advice. Thanks

You definately need to inform CIC and will probably need to resubmit all the identity documentation that has changed. And do expect it to delay your application a little.

As you are the sponsor, it won't really affect anything. Once you've changed it, email CIC a copy of your new passport and PR card to inform them of the change.
