Hi,

I'm currently on an LMO and have been offered a promotion. I've applied for PR but only recently so I expect that will take some time to work itself out. My company seem extremely unlikely to apply for a new LMO. My question is are there any alternatives? My understanding is that I would have to apply for a new LMO or wait for my PR to come through but are there any other potential options? My second question is how will CIC know if I do actually change positions? Is it essentially an honour system where you have to inform them of any changes or do they audit applications etc?

Thanks in advance.

If you get promoted you will need a new lmia. Only option

If you want to make sure you keep working legally and don't jeopardize your status in Canada (and potentially your PR application), you have two options: (1) get a new LMIA and new work permit; (2) don't accept the promotion.
