I've applied for the study permit after June 1, the date on which these changes www .cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-changes.asp took place. My study permit received in early August has "unless authorized prohibited from engaging in employment in Canada" (i.e. the line that is common in old study permits) EVEN THOUGH new rules should allow me to work part time as of June 1. Now, the problem is that at Service Canada they want me to provide them with this "authorization" to issue me the Social Insurance Number, the one that I desperately need to get employed. I have no idea what this "authorization" is and how to get it.
Though I see no reason why this "prohibition" is placed on me, I'd like to ask for your advice on what to do in this case. Should I apply for a work permit (it seems like I don't need to)? If not what should I do???
