Scenario:

If a person, citizen of country A but living as a PR in country B, applied and got their Canadian PR under country A and entered Canada under the same ... then later down the road got citizenship of country B, whilst being PR of Canada and gave up country A's citizenship due to rules, would it effect their Canadian citizenship application outcome?

Absolutely no! If you are a PR of country A, you'll have to declare to in the application. Likewise, your citizenship of country B needs to be included too...

At the time of Canadian citizenship application, this person no longer has any obligations to country A, its just that they came to Canada as Canadian PR holder when they were citizen of country A (so they applied for their Canadian PR under A) but gave up the citizenship of country A and obtained country B's citizenship while they were still living in Canada as Canadian PR holder, but keep in mind that country B was not mentioned to CIC anytime along the way.

No need to mention country A. Country B needs to be mentioned, it is mandatory....
 
Will that not create some doubts with CIC that this person did not disclose proper information a) in the citizenship application and b) anytime after the actual change (from A to B) happened whilst they were Canadian PR. Also, the CIC knows that they applied for Canadian PR when they were still a citizen of country A.

  • Did you already apply for citizenship?
  • If yes, what was your nationality the day you applied for citizenship?
  • Did you provide the correct information as to what your nationality was on the day of application?
