Hello Everyone!

I am planning to study in Canada in a program that will not qualify me for the Post Graduation Work Permit.

During the study, I want to search for a job. My question is, if i found a suitable job, can i cancel my study permit and issue a work permit?

Thanks for your input and help

Yes - you can try.

In order to qualify to apply for a work permit, you will need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job and who is also able to obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process takes many months to complete and costs the employer $1,000 + advertising costs - and there is never a guarantee the LMIA will be approved. If you are able to secure a full time job offer and an approved LMIA - you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

You should assume it will be extremely difficult to find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process.
