change status with CRA from single to common-law.

I can see that one of the papers for our application is to declare our common law union under the canadian income tax.
I cant find anywhere how to do it, is this online? do i call a number?

How long does it take? Do they send a letter through the mail (kind of c printout)? or is it something you print online?
sorry i just cant find how to do this.

You can change your status with CRA online. But you have to file taxes at least once before to be able to do so. But your common-law partner can change his status online and then just printout his account information. It will show the date he entered common-law and your name
