Hello everyone,

I have 2 questions,

Could you please let me know if I could change/ update the primary NOC code after submitting the Express Entry profile.

And also, I sent the EOI form to a province previously (they did not pick me), if I change the NOC code now will that become a issue.

Please confirm.

Thank you very much in advance

Yes. Just make sure it doesn't accidentally make you ineligible. You'll have to ensure that the NOC you choose doesn't affect program eligibility. If you're applying under FSWP and you got beyond 67/100 because of the work experience gained under a particular NOC and you change that now, your profile will turn ineligible and you'll have no option but to create a new profile from scratch.

And also, I sent the EOI form to a province previously (they did not pick me), if I change the NOC code now will that become a issue.

This won't be an issue.

Please confirm.

Thank you very much in advance

Thank you Asivad, it still falls under NOC B professional occupation list.

Could you also tell me is it mandatory to have the education in the same field of occupation.

Not necessarily unless it is one of those medical science professions or University professor jobs.

Wonderful.. thank u so much Asivad. You cleared my doubts +1 for you

Asivad, I have an other question,

'Date when I became first became qualified to practice in this occupation'

Which date should I put in, please help

That is the date when you were eligible to start working in this occupation - usually the time you graduated from college/University/got a diploma etc.

Can I put the date when I received my highest degree (although it is not fully relevant to work experience)

Yes.

Awesome!! Appreciate your precious time and valuable replies :)

Asivad,

I used the starting day of my job as the date when I became eligible to practice in this occupation, because, It seemed logical to me, that though I was eligible to do any kind of job just after graduation, I really started that particular job with NOC at the starting date, what do you think?

Also, what do you think if, someone changes his NOC code (which is in same skill level), after getting ITA. Does that cause misinterpretation?

Thanks,

Most people would use the day of graduation because even if the job did not exactly match the educational qualification, it probably required graduation as a prerequisite. Your call though. It isn't a make or break question.

You can change it after getting ITA. If you're planning to change the Primary NOC or even individual work experience NOCs, make sure you don't accidentally commit a change that makes you ineligible for the program or makes a material difference to your application. You can become ineligible if you're applying under FSWP and making that change reduces your overall work experience under a particular NOC which then brings your score on FSWP grid to less than 67.

Thanks,

Hey Asivad, I have a doubt and I hope you will clear it,

My NOC is 1212, currently I'm working under 1212 for almost 2 years, prior to that I was working for 2 jobs under 1311 for 3.5 years, and 1 year.

Here comes my confusion, I made a mistake I used NOC 1212, now I got to know I have better and more opportunities under 1311, so my question is if I change my NOC from 1212 to 1311, will it affect my application/eligibility? PS I can provide my current 1212 experience as 1311 from my current employer.

Thanks in advance. Waiting for your response.

-Hari.
