Is it safe for me to change my field of study while applying for Canada student visa and how much does one’s travel history affect ?

From lot of cases we have seen in this forum, VO don't take change in field of study positively. You have to show it is in line with your past studies & your career progression. Some might say create a strong SOP, but I still feel it might just waste your time. Travel history depends on case to case basis but is an important factor while VO considers your file especially if you are unable to demonstrate strong home ties.

Changing your field slightly i.e. from industrial engineer to mechanical engineering or information tech. to business analytics will only slightly negatively affect your application while major changes such as computer science to business will drastically lower your chances

Ok, thanks for your response . I’m applying for Post graduate Diploma not as Masters student . I just want to be sure your explanation covers that area too .

This will depend on you age & experience. PG Diplomas are usually for fresh graduates or someone with less experience and where you are applying from also sometimes makes a difference (usually if applying from 1st world countries you go through less scrutiny). But not impossible, try to write a good SOP explaining your purpose of study, etc.
