Hello. I have a question regarding my application. I am a supervisor at a gas station and My PR application is already on process and I have already received my file number. Last week, my employer sold the company to a new owner and the NAME of the company has been changed but everything else is still the same. I still work for the same gas station, same time, same location. It's just that the ownership has been changed. My new boss said that he will also support me in my application. I have a representative that process my application but they told me they need to apply for a new work permit because the NAME of the company has been changed. But is asking another service fee for that and I've already given them so much money. So my questions are, is my current work permit(previous owner's name) still valid? Can I apply for an open work permit BY MYSELF without the help or consent of my representative? Will this change of ownership affect my PR application? Or worst case scenario will this forfeit my PR application and basically make me go back to zero. Thanks inadvance!

IRCC asked the applicants to update their profile at any point of time about the changes in personal and profession. I don't think it would be problem if you update your profile.

As you are already in the process, you may have contact details to send your documents to IRCC. You send them a letter with explanation about the changes in proprietary not in your profession. Also you can attach a new reference letter with letterhead of new company name along with formerly old company name. If new letter head doesn't contain old company name, it can be included in the content.

In short, send LOE and updated employer reference letter to IRCC.

It would be fine to update at the earliest possible. If IRCC accepts, no need of filing new profile. you can continue the existing application. If it doesn't work, you can re-enter with new profile as your final option.

Don't pursue any agency for Canada PR. IRCC process is clearly understandable and people here in this forum and whatsapp group will help you whenever you need assistance.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks for your reply. I still have a valid work permit from my previous employer/owner that is due july 2018. And my PR application is already "in process" as listed last time I checked in. I got my provincial nomination/ITA this May 2017. And I have submitted all the documents to my representative. I even paid for the Landing fee for my PR. Called in last friday to 3 different IRCC agents and they all gave me 3 different answers on what to do with my situation. I'm so confused right now as to wether I would need another work permit like my representative/agency told me. But it would cost me another payment as they will ask for another service fee to do my work permit plus the gov't fee that goes with it.
