Hi all,

Most of the topics i find here about change in marital status are related to peopel who got married while in process or after receiving PR.
My problem is that I applied for EE as common low and then got married a month ago. Now my profile is updated to being married. However, my husband seems to be slowly giving up on the idea of immigration and this is very far from what i want.
I want to continue my application and eventually immigrate to Canada.

So I have two questions:
Can I apply while being married and going without him?
Can we continue the application and eventually get divorced when we get the Visa?

I am completely clueless here but I do not want to give up on this just because he suddenly got a change of heart or mind (this is still cannot figure out).

thanks!

You can apply while married and go without him. But he will still need to complete and pass the medical, provide police certificates and also pass the security and background checks.

I suggest you sit down with your husbent. The process is long, costly and exhousting.. and if you are both not on board with this idea, you need to get it out in the open.

Thanks. I guess at this point there is no chance to apply alone while being married. Am I right?
I suppose I will have to convince him to do what it takes.
If we both do all that is required and get visa, does he need to travel to Canada with me?

Also if we decide to get separated after we get Visas - does this affect our status in some way?

you CAN apply alone even if you are married. BUT unacompanying spouse still needs to do the medical ( that cost a lot of money ) and produce all the documents, just like if he was included with your application.

When you are issued PPR, you need to travel to canada within a given time frame. If one of you doesnt want to go, he will not finish the process and will not be issued PR.

If you are separated after you are both officialy PRs, this will not affect your status in any way.

Again, the process is extremely expensive, including someone just for the sake of not arguing at this point, will cost you a lot of money ( processing fee, ppr fee, medica fee, all the translated documents x2 etc. etc. )

Hi,

I am aware of all fees that I have to pay, i wouldn't say "extremely" expensive but yes, the whole process does cost some significant ammount of money.
thansk for answering, this gives me some clues how to proceed.

I guess that depends on where you live ::)
I have really good earnings in my country, but converted to CAD, I make only about 800 CAD a month ::)

for me , this process is like sailing around the world lol ;D

Mine are about the same .. but I've been abroad and have put some money aside. I can deffinitely live without it so I decided to invest it in something I want :) I think the funds you need to prove are the biggest bump in this whole thing.
