Hello,

I am international student from Punjab and started a university in ontario in Jan 2013. I now find that my university course is very research based and is not what I intended to do. I have two year study permit. I want to change to a more practical oriented course in a college. I am looking a college programs with two year duration:

On cic website it says: cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-arriving.asp
If you are a post-secondary student with a valid study permit, you do not need to submit an application if you want to change your program of study or the institution where you are studying.

My college course might need 3-4 months more than my study permit end date. Do I need to notify cic regarding change of my course? Or can I just start college course and then apply for study extension before 30 days from end on my student permit?

Can I select any college course that is at post secondary level? Does it have to match with my previous education?

How hard is study in colleges? I would be likely pursuing a diploma course.

Thanks
