Hi all,

I've been searching all over for an answer to this question, but it seems elusive.

I have to translate two documents from Korean into English.

I'm going to hire a website to translate them for me, but they say they will send me a pdf of the certified translation and certificate of accuracy. Is this ok? Do I have to send it the original certified translation, or is it ok to just print off this pdf and send it in?

Hopefully one of the senior members will answer.....is a website considered a "certfied translator" per say I am thinking not .....also I am thinking original signatures on the translations will be required......

for any translation or notary copies you have to get them signed from a person of some authority/high-decent position... i do not think a website is a good idea... plus the certified copy cannot be a copy, it has to be original for example, say it is your birth certificate/marriage certificate/job letter which you need translated, then get it translated by the notary, have them seal/stamp it + signatures... and then when you send in this documentation, you should send the original notary/certified document (keep a photocopy of that for yourself), and the original document which was in Korean, as per in your case, and keep a photocopy of that. staple them together with the translated certified copy on top, and the original document on bottom...

i would would not risk sending in a website approved anything... only thing that should come from websites is your emails, facebook, skype history, call logs etc.... not documentation...

any documents you send in should be originals, you keep the copies of them, and keep a copy of everything you send, so whatever package you send, keep a ditto copy of it for yourself.

best of luck :)

You can try contacting the Embassy of Korea to see if they provide translation service with a fee. The embassy usually has the authority to translate and certify documents.
I am not so sure about the PDF, I would stay away from that.

My husband is a usa citizen but was born in peru, so I need to get his birth certificate translated into English? Then it is certified by a notary? Has anyone got any recommendations on where to get this done in the vancouver/surrey area?

Also, you say you send in the original birth certificate and keep a copy? You don't get the original back though so is not just a copy one sent ok as I would prefer to keep an original one.

call a vancouver court and ask who they use as a professional court translator and then contact that translator....you will have to send your husband's original birth certificate in with the notarized translated copy in english...

Have to send original stuff, except for passport (when u are sending in the application package, when they request passport you send the actual one...) national identity card etc...

can you get the birth certificate back? Is the only one you get and say you need it for something else. Thanks on the tip for calling the courts.

no you will not get back as it is part of the orignating application.....just order a new birth certificate if you want an original one for your files......
