Certified copy: the name of the original document

Hi,

IRCC makes it clear that the certified photocopy of a non English/French document need to have the following information marked by the authorized person:

• their name and signature
• their position or title
• the date they certified the document
• the phrase “I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”
• the name of the original document

The notary public who completed my certified copy used a stamp and signed her name on the paper, which fulfill the first 4 requirements. However, the stamp obviously did not include the last requirement (name of the original document), and she refused to handwrite any additional information on the paper.

Would this be a problem? It is worth noting that the title of the original document is already in English & the original language.

If the title is in English, it won't matter since it will be clearly obvious that they are the same document.

Yeah I was thinking about the same thing. For what it's worth, the notary public asked me to explain what the purpose of that requirement was, and if she should write in English or the original language? I have no answers to both questions...lol
