Hello all!
First of all, a huge thanks to all of the members here! This forum has helped me a lot with the questions I've had. However, this one thing has been bugging me a lot. Does anybody know if the requirements under CEC were revised recently? I've finally gained the one year experience requirement with the PGWP and thinking of applying for my PR under CEC. Unless I missed it completely, there used to be an "Education" segment in the document checklist (the one from last year), where it asked for the certificates, transcripts etc. If I look at the document checklist now, there is no mention of education as a requirement anymore. Am i looking at the wrong checklist [IMM 5610]/application package? or have they really changed the requirements? :s

Thanks a lot in advance!

This is what you should be looking at. This is the latest. I know that they do not ask for certificates, but they ask you for details of your educations and work experiences in the past 10 years. I will be including my degrees and my diplomas for sure.

The last major change to requirements occured in January 2013, when they eliminated the post-graduate stream and lowered the employment requirement from 2 years to 1 year.

You are no longer required to do anything with your education, but provide documents that prove you completed your program/degree and properly transitioned into employment. Meaning, you graduated and then started working. You dont want conflicting dates - finished program vs graduated, and working while finished vs working when graduated.

All your dates need to line up perfectly, so I would suggest giving yourself a buffer (days/weeks even). As noticeable from recent posts, most applications that were very close (borderline) in dates resulted in rejection, as the VO took a hard a stance on the requirements and calculated to the very last hour/date.

I would personally include your educational documents, as they prove the dates, but more importantly, make sure that you follow the CIC guidelines for PGWP and CEC eligibility. The smallest thing could disqualify you! Good luck... :)

Hello CEC213,

Can you also list down what forms they changed as a part the change they did beginning Jan 2013.?

Thanks and appreciate your help.

The CIC call center agents have repeatedly told me NOT to include any additional documents, only the ones requested. Not sure if it's a good idea to just add it to the package? In any case, too late for me :)

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's better to send more documents than not enough :) I'm sure you'll be fine though

For sure. But I don't know if too many documents is better than just sending what is requested ;)

Call centre agents are simply an information point and have a specific set of skills and are told exactly what to say. If you ask me, I would include anything relevant to your status. You dont want your application to be held up for some little thing you could have avoided from the beginning.

Got my degree in the State, but still included a copy and a credential assessment. I wanted to show that I'm making an effort to enter the workforce, which would normally require an assessment and whatnot. Worst case man, they put the documents on the side and your app goes forward as is. Dont really see what negative effect your education documents might have on your app. :)

It would take me a long time to go through all of them....but, here's how you can see. If you look on the bottom left corner of the document, in the brackets/parentheses you will notice a date. For example IMMM0008 (04-2013) and IMM5562 (05-2004)....you can notice that IMM0008 was updated recently - April '13, while IMM5562 was last updated May '04.

Hope that helps... :)

You're right. Damn, now I am worried!
