My WP expires on 30 May 2013, So can I apply in Feb 2013 ----Is that correct?

This is correct. Within 4 months of your current permit expiring.

I thought u should be in canada while you apply for open work permit while CEC is on

It's fairly new. The last person I read about it took approx. 45 days.

I was advised by a cic agent that the process of the application can take around 2-3 months or less if you apply online. Paper applications take longer.

Hey jsm, you said within 4 months of the current permit expiring! How about if i have closed work permit and will expire next year, Can i apply for owp as soon i recieve AOR or i have to wait 4 months before my closed WP expire? Or the 4 months rule apply only if u currently have owp not closed wp?
