Guys, I have a questions - ..

As we know post Jan 2013, the requirement for CEC will change from 2 years work experience to 1year work experience....So my questions is?

1. Is this new rule applicable to only new application?
2. What will happen to existing in progress application submitted in 2012 and have not yet worked upon ...?

New rules are not retroactive. Applications are subject to the rules in effect at the time the application is received.
 
Hi Jes,

I have completed my 2 years on Nov 16... and I took 20 days unpaid vacation ... so I am applying on Dec 10th.. So do you suggest that I should wait any apply in Jan 2013 when new rules are in effect ...Or above timelines are okay to proceed.

I think you should wait because those 20 days will set you back on your hours...on the other hand if you apply next year then you have more than enough hours to be eligible..if you have the equivalent hours even now then you should be good to go..
 
I dont want to wait for new rules they may come up with new set of rules and forms .. I am all set ready to apply. I am just making sure to cover 20 unpaid days vacation ....


As I said I have completed my 2 years on 16 Nov... and I am playing in second week of December 10 Dec - 16 Dec.


Also, by the time they recview my application it will be last December or early January ..so I think I am good..

If you work full-time (at least 37.5 hours per week), then hours are not relevant.

20 days = 4 weeks (usual is 5 work days per week). So you would have to cover 1 extra month.

??? The date that your application is "reviewed" has no impact on your eligibility. The date that it is received at CIO-Sydney is your "lock-in date." You either meet the requirements on that day, or you don't. What ever you do, do NOT apply too soon, not even 1 day too soon.

Can you please take a look and suggest when is the best time to apply? Is Dec 16.. is good date?
 
After you have covered those 20 days, wait for a week or two to apply just to be on the safe side. From the dates you have mentioned, I think you will be fine if mail your application around the Christmas time. I dont see any reason why you should wait until Jan 1, 2013 to apply. In fact I would suggest to mail your application beforehand so that your lock-in date is in 2012. You never know what new rules will entail so why take the risk. If you meet the IELTS, 2 years exp (37.5 hrs/week) requirement with proper documentation ... then apply.

Nov 16 2010 - Joining date.

Nov 22 - Dec 10 2010 was inactive ..period.

Dec 11 2010 - Present ...I am active ..full time employee ( 37.5 hours)..

Please suggest when should we apply?
 
Thats 15 working days i.e. 3 weeks. You can cover them by Dec 7, 2012. And if I were you, I would be very comfortable sending in my application on the 21st Dec, 2012. It also gives you leverage for two weeks!
