Hello All,

I have Canadian work exp, but i am 2 days short of 12 months, is that an issue ? By looking at the number of hours eligibility on the website says 30 hours / week. I have 40 hrs/ week for 1 yr and some extra hours of work as well. Will this be considered ? please advice. thanks

Are you still working in Canada?

No i am back in India since 0ct 2012. My last working day in Canada was 1st Oct 2012. thanks

Even if you work more than 40 hours within 12 months, you still have to gain 12 months of experience. But since, you are already in India and do not have an option, you can take the risk of applying under CEC, unless there is a chance that you come back to Canada in the near future..

thanks for your response yahoo7, how exactly is the 1 year calculated? is it based on my Work permit dates or my offer letter or my day of landing and leaving Canada ? my work permit is valid for more than 12 months. thanks.

The day you actually start working.

Hi

You need to have total of 1950 hours worked .

You fulfill the criteria if you have worked for 40hours/week.

You should go ahead and apply.

Thanks

Incorrect. There are two critieria. You must have enough hours AND you must have worked for at least one full year. Technically the OP does not meet both of these critiera. However I agree that he/she might as well apply and see what happens.

" 'Full-time work' is defined in R87.1(3)(a) as requiring at least 37.5 hours of work per
week. For the Canadian Experience Class full-time equivalence, or 1,950 hours of paid
employment over a period at least of 12 months will also be considered.
The full-time work experience requirement may be met by the equivalent in part-time
paid work experience, e.g. more than one part-time job held simultaneously or one or P 25 – Canadian Experience Class
2013-01-02 10
more part-time jobs held over the equivalent of one year of full-time work. Experience can
be calculated by adding up the number of weeks of full-time work, i.e. 37.5 hours per
week in one job or a total of at least 37.5 hours per week in more than one job, in one or
more of the NOC categories."

Does this not mean you can have experience from multiple jobs and if so if you are working two jobs , you will have the required hours done before one year and it is considered same as one year of experrience?

No, you still also have to work a minimum of 12 months.

Note that if you apply after January 2, 2013, there is a different manual - the OP 25-A
www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25A-eng.pdf

Work experience must be acquired over a period of at least
one year; work in excess of 30 hours per week over a shorter period cannot compensate
for any shorter overall period of experience.

It is based on your first and last day of actually working. These dates should appear in your letter of employment.

yes, you should probably withdraw your application if you can...unpaid leave cannot be counted towards hours (because you did not work) and you are right on the brim....also you need to have worked min 30 hrs in a week..you cannot carry over or compensate extra hours from other weeks to the week where you worked less than 30 hrs.

I am in the same category, I applied for my post graduate work permit, but started working two months before it came, and i worked for 12 months,am i eligible to apply under CEC, i am also considering applying through Ontario provincial nominee program because i feel i am not eligible for CEC, but getting an employer to do the nominee program has been frustrating, also looking for an employer to sponsor LMO has not been productive, any suggestions because i am frustrated.

You said 11 months in the other thread you started.
